Let’s now test the strength in his lower extremities. We’ve already tested the anterior tibialis and the gasctrocs at the bedside, but those are such strong muscles, that sometimes we don’t detect subtle weakness. So, we’ll start by having him walk on his heels, like this, to test his anterior tibs.
-“Okay, can you walk on your heels for me? Walk over there on your heels.”
And he is able to get his feet up, that’s normal.
-“Stop, okay. Turn around. Now, walk towards me on your toes, on your toes now. Now we’re testing the gastrocs.
-“On your toes, walk here.”
And again, he gets his heels up. That’s normal. Okay, stop.
