Conclusions
This concludes the essential neurologic exam. I want to reiterate, just because we are focusing on these aspects of the neurologic exam does not mean that the many other components of the neurologic exam are unimportant. They are all important. What one must do is always perform this essential neurologic exam on every patient who has a complaint of neurologic illness. Then, depending on the abnormality, based on the history or other findings, you then proceed to the focused neurologic exam that is superimposed on the essential exam for a more comprehensive exam.
