Pronator drift finding
This patient has a right pronator drift that appears after he closes his eyes.
[Doctor] Sir, can you put your arms in front of you with your palms up? Now, close your eyes.
About pronator drift
The pronator drift is a sign of weakness in the upper extremity and it is most useful in detecting a mild deficit. In testing for pronator drift, the patient should hold his arms outstretched with his palms up and eyes closed. The patient is said to have a pronator drift if there is inward turning and downward movement of an arm.
Localization
Pronator drift is due to corticospinal tract, or upper motor neuron, dysfunction within the brain or spinal cord.
