We shall now evaluate the jugular venous pulse wave form. Again, we identify it at the inferolateral aspect of the sternocleidomastoid, and we observe the impulse. But we want a timing device, so we feel the carotid vessel and I’ll place a cotton swab on it and together we will be able to see the timing of the venous impulse, as compared to the arterial impulse.
