Drugs Causing Hypertension
Some drugs, including over-the-counter medications, can cause hypertension. These include erythropoietin, oral contraceptives, sympathominetic amines, excess alcohol, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, high dose steroids, cyclosporine, tacrolimus, some herbal medications (such as those that contain ephedrine), licorice, cold or allergy medications (such as pseudoephedrine), and recreational drugs such as amphetamine and cocaine.
