Doppler Echo
A Doppler echo was obtained to determine the presence of associated abnormalities, as well as confirm the presence of an atrial septal defect and determine its size and location. Evaluation of size and location also determines whether the defect is appropriate for transcatheter device closure.
Echocardiography provides assessment of cardiac anatomy, including wall thickness, chamber size, valve morphology, cardiac function and quantitation of hemodynamics by measuring blood flow velocity and direction.
