Your choice: Infective endocarditis
Patients with infective endocarditis commonly present with fever and a heart murmur. Acute infections may cause sudden heart failure due to acute valvular regurgitation. Subacute infections commonly cause systemic symptoms including arthralgias, fatigue and weight loss. Valvular regurgitation may also lead to congestive failure. Both forms may be associated with emboli from valvular vegetations.
