This chest X ray demonstrates dextrocardia, with the cardiac apex on the right. Note that the stomach bubble is also on the right, thus demonstrating situs inversus. While dextrocardia may be found in patients who are otherwise normal, when it occurs in the absence of situs inversus, a very high incidence of congenital heart disease is found.
