This patient’s arterial pulse was initially difficult for me to find. That, in itself, tells me that it’s likely reduced and then, when I really analyze it and put my finger on it with light pressure, and use the cotton swab, the excursion of this pulse is reduced. This is a small carotid arterial pulse. Let’s look together. [Cut-away]

That finding is consistent with the patient’s blood pressure as well… a narrow pulse pressure and a small carotid arterial pulse.
