You are incorrect - the best treatment for our patient is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug.

Your choice: Antibiotic therapy
Antibiotic therapy is indicated in all patients with bacterial pericarditis. Tuberculosis is the most common cause worldwide of bacterial pericarditis. When purulent pericarditis develops and causes effusion and tamponade, antibiotic therapy alone may be inadequate. Pericardial biopsy with fluid aspiration and culture are required. In many cases, pericardiectomy is required.
